Horus Heresy - Alan Bligh Answers Your Questions
I got to spend 15 minutes with Alan Bligh, the super-nice chief author for Forge World, who has been writing all their books lately. He answered some questions posted by readers of my blog and the brand new Horus Heresy Forum.
1) When will we see Salamanders?
Next Horus Heresy Book (# 2)
2) The HH:Betrayal book and the IA:Aeronautica book are both recent AND have the Dreadclaw Drop Pod. However, the removed the old Dreadclaw from the FW website. Are they retooling the old mold, making a new one (without the chaos iconography), or what? (Kronk - Dakka)
The Dreadclaw has been discontinued as it was not a very practical model. It is being retooled.
3) When is Mk 8 armour coming out
Errant armour is not in the early part of the Heresy. It is similar to Aquila Armour. It may be in an Imperial Armour book, but not planned anytime time soon.
4) When will the miniature for Horus be released.
Not set, but Tony Cotrell says "Pretty soon". There is a sense at Forge World that Horus needs to be done quickly.
5) When are Blood angels, Space Wolves, Thousand Sons coming out?
See schedule (Posted here)
6) What about the rules, guidance, advice on games with xenos?
The problem is the use of Primarchs and fairness. So you have to balance the lists. Discuss with your friend, maybe let him take a Stompa with his Orks if you are playing with Angron.
7) What about the formations for Apoc?
Probably in the future.
8) What about imperial army (IG)?
They will appear. VERY diverse. Not a single list. Calth will be the first.
9) Will we see any Heresy-specific terrain?
There is no real Heresy -specific terrain. Most terrain are cross over pieces
10) Will all the named IC get their own models eventually?
Assuming named characters in the Black Library books that are then given rules, yes. But some are not going to be made, specifically characters made up for the FW book.
12) Where are the MK III Assault Marine squads? There are two versions of the earlier MK II's (normal and Legion) and a set each for IV and V....
Working through it. There are just a lot of things to get through and this is on the list.
13) Will we see a Volkite Culverin for the Legion Heavy Support squads ? (maybe even Terminators under "Protoype Weaponry")
YES for Legion Heavy Support Squads, No for Terminators, maybe a Dreadnought arm.
14) Is the EC Relic Contemptor supposed to be a proxy for Ancient Rylanor or are there plans for a separate miniature?
Would like to do a sperate Rylanor, but not on schedule.
15) What are the standard colour schemes for Librarians, Chaplains and Techmarines during the Great Crusade/HH?
Tough one. Psykers are outlawed so no Librarians. Red on Techmarines is OK as red = tech priest rank, but should be a minor key not the entire uniform.
16) When is Forgeworld planning on releasing the Fulgrim model to the general public? Also are they planning on releasing more Primarchs before this year is out or should we expect about 1 to 2 primarch releases a year?
Not a set schedule want them right
17) Besides the general timeline for release of the thousand sons, what is fw's vision for them? Kind of what their charachter will be or special units they might have.
This is too long an answer and no one person makes this decision.
18) Will posters ever be available at future events or u.s. events?
NO CLUE
19) When well be seeing the Palatine Blades released?
Next couple months
20) WIll there be a complete Mechanicus army list?
Yes, but over the fullness of time. There will be parts released, and until more units are released the army wont be very diverse. Mars is the nominal title for the Mechanicus book
21) Are we going to progress past the Crusade Era power armour marks and see more Mk V and Mk VI characters and special units?
As we go along, but depends on narrative.
22) What can they tell us about the Night Lords?
In next Horus Heresy Book.
Well there you go! Thanks to Alan for his graciousness in chatting with me.

Loken,
Thank you so much for asking my question!!
Foxhound2delta
Awesome coverage Loken. I like your blog more and more. Nice to see you pick up the slack for the departure of Fait.
Why waste the time asking whiny "when is X out questions"?
Er, hate to ask this, but...What schedule? I see no link to one.
Read the previous post!

What sort of answer is that for the Librarian question? There are librarians in Betrayal. We just want to know how to paint them.
Are there? I thought there weren't. Hmmm, have to go check.
Well as I remember in the books the librarians were reabsorbed onto the legions as standard marines banned from using there powers so no they should be painted the same as a normal marine
Council of Nikea aside...the Legion Army List has an entry. You can make a Centurion into a Librarian. There's even a Librarian special character if I recall correctly.
Oh man, I wish I would've known about this. I really want to ask if FW has any traitor characters planned for the loyalist legions.
page 191 in betrayal, librarian is a consul upgrade
I know I missed the opportunity to post this question earlier, but can we ask A.B. if there are going to be any Lucifer Blacks in the series for the IG? Maybe even squad or platoon size?
Not even a single question on Bran Redmaw </3
