Forge World Castellum Stronghold & Iron Hands Squad

From Forge World:

When the situation calls for a prolonged deployment, Space Marines can rapidly construct modular fortified structures, known as Castellum Strongholds, to use as forward operating bases on a planet’s surface.

Designed by Blake Spence, the Realm of Battle Space Marine Castellum Stronghold is a 24" x 24" (609 mm x 609 mm) tile which can fit the Citadel Realm of Battle board. The model features areas that can accommodate Tarantula Sentry turrets, and its design allows several boards to be put together, expanding the size of the base. The Castellum Stronghold will be available as a pre-release at Games Day UK in limited quantities.

The Castellum Stronghold comes in at a very reasonable £ 90 or $ 145.

From Forge World:
Since the dark times of the Horus Heresy, in honour of their Primarch Ferrus Manus, the Iron Hands ritually replace their right hands with a mechanical augmentation; to them flesh has become symbolic of weakness and weakness is something that they will not tolerate.

Designed by Israel Gonzalez, the Iron Hands Legion Squad is a five man multi-part kit fitted out in Mk III Iron Armour that features many details such as cybernetic limbs, a nuncio-vox and an auspex. This kit will be available as a pre-release at Games Day UK in limited quantities.

These models are AMAZING.  They cost £32 or $51 a set.

Can Forge World please stop making me want to play more armies?

Tablescapes Update

When I last reported on Tablescapes, Justin McCoy, the founder of Secret Weapon, had raised $ 68,000 of his $ 80,000 goal after only a few days.  Now he is well over $ 200,000 and has unlocked

Justin McCoy, the founder of Secret Weapon Miniatures, has launched a Kickstarter for "Tablescapes" are 12" x12" tiles that are similar to Games Workshop "Realm of Battle" boards, but half the cost and way more versatile.  I am a huge fan of Justin's work and I hope you will all support Justin in his efforts.  Here is the video:

And how Tablescapes fit together.  Compression clips keep the tiles held firmly together - with edge and interior designs for maximum stability while you're gaming:

So far there have been 4 additional board designs unlocked.  Here they are:

And there will be both Battlefoam and KR Multicase cases for the boards so you can transport them safely.

And if you haven't seen the video:

Go check the Kickstarter out here

Forgeworld New Releases - Realm of Battle Table Section

I love this!  Now Forgeworld is doing terrain on a major scale with the release of a Realm of Battle Imperial Strongpoint.  It fits with the other Realm of Battle game boards from games Workshop.

From the Forgeworld Site:

Comprising a power generator, two reinforced defensive positions, dragons-teeth tank traps and huge, armoured blast doors dug into a central hill, the Imperial Strongpoint Expansion tile is a fortified stronghold that will make a great feature for your armies to fight over in games of Warhammer 40,000.

Perfect for representing critical objectives such as a command and control facility, or a fortified artillery pit, the Imperial Strongpoint can be used in games of Planetstrike as a unique Bastion or to represent a huge variety of stratagems, strategic assets and other rules in Battle Missions. It is also a great addition to Apocalypse games and other Warhammer 40,000 battles.

Micro Art Studio 28mm Radar Station Terrain

Micro Art Studio, one of the pioneers in the resin after market for 40K, has released a very cool hardfoam terrain piece.

The set consists of 1 foam building, a radar made of HDF, a resin Security Entrance #4 and a HDF platform surrounding the building.

Approximate size of the foam building: Length: 25,5cm / 10 inch Width: 19,5 cm / 7 inch Height: 7,5 cm / 3 inch

Approximate size of the HDF radar: Length: 15,5cm / 6 inch Width: 7,5 cm / 3 inch Height: 7,5 cm / 3 inch

All HDF parts (high-density fiberboard of 3mm thickness) are designed to slot together in a way that allows for a quick and easy assembly. Radar building is made from high quality structure Hardfoam. Hardfoam is lightweight, durable and easy to cut with a knife or fretsaw.  Resin Security Entrance #4 has been made from high quality resin.
At  36.90 Euros, this comes out to $ 52, which is not cheap.  Add postage and I think this is a tough sell.  But I would like one at least.

They also recently released a very cool Generator:

And  a Pumping Station I recently bought and was pleased with.

All these items are available on the Micro Art website!

Gamecraft Miniatures Releases Modular Terrain

Gamecraft Miniatures, a maker of gaming terrain, has released a 28mm modular building set.  It is interesting because you buy the pieces you need.

So you buy a basic frame (no photos available) and it isn't even clear what the frame is made of, though I assume Resin.

Then you buy the windows and doors and then the floors.

The windows and doors come in a pack of 6 for $ 6.

The floor pack is $ 6.

The World's Most Awesome Terrain Piece!

OK, this was so awesome I asked Jim from Galaxy in Flames to let me re-post it here!  From Jim:

Games Workshop in Ruins!

My buddy just sent me pics of the ruin that was built when we worked together at GW. It contains a corpse for everyone of the hobby centers staff members. The patrons of our shop absolutely loved the building. We hated to send it down to LA, in the end we should have kept it for ourselves.

This building went down in infamy after it was built and sent down to LA for Gamesday 2004. It was deemed inappropriate and was stomped to death by the staff of the LA Battle Bunker. It got the entire staff of our store a verbal thrashing for being inappropriate and not fostering the proper creativity in the hobby. It sure did make us northern Cali guys despise the ones from down south. So goes life!

No matter the sorted history I still think it was a shame that this creative ruin was destroyed.

Alec's Postnote:

OK, the fact that GW found this offensive is ridiculous!  You are pushing a game that is about BILLIONS getting killed in gruesome ways and this was inappropriate?  And some gusy had the nerve to stop on this?   Give me a break!

Alec
