I am a big fan of Rob Baer and his company Spikey Bits and his store FTW Games. Well now Rob has a new idea and asked me to post it.

Best of all is it's less work than selling on e-Bay and it pays just the same, if not more!
This sweet system lets you trade in any used items you have just lying
around collecting the proverbial dust, for either new in box items OR
other used items we feature from time to time on here.
How does it work? Checkout all the details below.
The Basics:
1. Email a correctly formatted list of the bits and/or kits you want to sell to buyer@spikeybits.com
2. We will
reply within one to two business days providing you with an offer for
your items and a confirmation code. You will have 24 hours to approve or
decline our offer. If you approve the offer all you have to do is reply
to the offer e-mail stating you approve.
3. After
we receive the e-mail reply from you stating you accepted our offer, all
you need to do is ship your models or kits and a print out of the email
confirmation to the store address.
Buylist (What we give you for your items):
Below is a very basic
list of what we’re looking for and what we, on average, offer for items. With
the varying condition in which used toy soldiers can be, these prices are a
generalization for the best condition indicated.
We reserve the right to
offer less based on larger collections and or collections containing a large
percentage of slower-selling items.
If you feel that your
items do not match this condition please let us know when you email us, and if
possible provide pictures of your items to help us get you an accurate quote! Following these
instructions allows us to process your sell order as quickly and efficiently as
possible.
New in Box Items- We only accept the most
current version on the market! To make sure you have to most update version of
said item, be sure to check the manufacturer’s website!
We offer 40% of the current MSRP for most mainstream games with
an additional 12.5% (for a total of about 50%) bonus for store credit trade in.
Assembled /used items- For used items we accept
any version of items on the
market.
Primed and assembled in
good condition (models will not need to be stripped or re-assembled)
We offer 20% of the current MSRP for most mainstream games, with
an additional 6% (for a total of about 25%) bonus for store credit trade in.
Primed and assembled in poor condition (models will need to
have their paint stripped, pieces glued back in place, or have missing parts
all together. This applies to worn books, custom licensed templates, etc as
well.
We offer 15% of the current MSRP for most mainstream games,
as this condition is pretty undesirable for most players, besides the “do it
yourselfers”. Items in this condition
have a tendency to sit unsold for quite sometime, so we try to not deal in
items of this nature as much as possible.

I'm trying my best to formulate this question, but my mind is going a million miles per second.
My question has more to do with GW and Spikeybits.
This is a service where I send in my items and I get a bonus percentage for store credit trade in.
Now I understand what the customer is getting in return, however what are his plans with the used models and he is accepting?
Is he taking all the bits and models he receives, restoring them and selling them as built sets?
This is pretty clever, he's basically found a way around the policy by receiving bits, restoring them and selling them as built models and since none of his stock from GW is being opened and sold, that means he isn't in violation of the policy...
????

But GW might just stop selling to him. Makeing it so he only Deals in Old Models. No One will Trade in Brand New stuff.

This is just a scam. 40% for New Models? You can make 90% on eBay and get Cash! You can sell Old Metals with Parts missing at 40% ... I dont See how its appealing to Anyone. This reminds me of the send youre Gold in BS.
Actually heard on the radio that Guitar Center is doing something like this too, take your old vintage instruments in, they give you a discount on new stuff, then they take your old stuff, fix it up, and re-sell it as "Vintage" at a higher price.
Yeah, you're getting rid of your old models, but at the same time it would almost be better to sell them online through ebay or craigslist, or even use the black market here or on other gaming forums, that way you have the cash in hand (metaphorically speaking), and can chose where to spend it.
One thing I've noticed is that even independent retailers have a more limited stock of GW Products.
However, this service isn't just for GW stuff though, it's for all the other games too, GW is just a part in it, and I feel if you're target as a customer is strictly GW, it may not be the best way to go.
But if you're doing another game it may be a good option, however online retailers sell other games like Flames of War or Warmachine for 50% anyway...
IDK... It kinda makes me feel like my money is being held for ransom in one place. This is specifically why I don't like Bits Bazaars because all my stuff is just held up on a gift card that I have no other choice but to use at that location.

It's a good attempt and i'm sure it'll work out for a while, but who knows.

What I fail to understand in all of this is why GW are shutting down bits suppliers when they are mainly to source people turn to to convert existing GW models (a practice they encourage at Games Days).
I would understand why they would go after full kit discounters, but not bits suppliers. If you closed down discounters, you'd at least see why because you'd be forced to buy at full retail from a GW store, a FLGS or GW on-line.
But where do we go to get bits now? GW doesn't support bits and it's crazy to expect people to buy a whole kit or two to get the parts you need for conversions. It's not as if you can make a full Leman Russ tank cheaper than a kit by buying all the bits you need from a bits supplier.
Does it stop the bits suppliers selling their stuff through bay?
Crazy people run GW!!
