Ork Soopa Stompa Scratchbuild

From Greg Teeuwen, our resident Ork scratch-builder

I've been swamped with making Orky aircraft for the last several months and hadn't done anything for myself as of late.  As luck would have it, I had a week-long break in between commission work as I waited for key parts, so I decided to quick-build a second Soopa Stompa for my Apoc army.

My first Soopa  Stompa ("Masta Blasta") was a really quick build off a stompa-kit's body.  I just added some shoulder and body weapons.  Using Kustom Stompa rulez, my soopa stompa had 2 Flame Belchas, 2 Deff Kannons with co-axial gigashootas, 2 Bursta Kannons (D-weapons), and a Deff Arsenal.     All told, it's about 1000 points of total beat-down.  In all the games it's been in, it's been quite the terror.

At the last big game, I realized I only had two stompas in my army, so I decided to create another soopa stompa.  I intend to equip it with the exact same weapon load-out as my first soopa stompa, but I wanted it to be a total scratchbuild.  In the end, the only non-scratch parts I used were a Battlewagon cabin (still modified extensively), stompa feet, and a couple of gun-type bits I won at the last Big Game (thank you for everyone who voted for my scratch-builds!  ;) ).

I also wanted to do something cool with the Deff Kannons- I've always liked revolvers, so that was my motivation in creating the arm kannons.  I used wooden dowels as "bullets", complete with primers in the rear of the shell.

Oh, I need help naming this thing.  Any help?

That's probably the best-looking modern stompa I've seen. With all those guns, Orks and grots it has the bustling, bristling feel of the early Epic gargants, the minis themselves and the suggestions in the rules and art.

Awesome scratch build! Impressive that in a break you still have the motivation to build more instead of relaxing. And to produce something so wonderfull so quickly, i tip my hat to you sir. With that gun my suggested name is: 'urty 'arry.

Wow. That looks great. I think my favorite part is the head. Looks much more intimidating than a normal Stompa head.

I second CLBenarius for the name 'urty 'arry. Suits the revolvers perfectly! :D

Holy Cow! Looks like a "mortis pattern" Stompa. Fitting too with the amount of Dakka on there.

Ron, FTW
