Crap. Yep, just like Games Workshop wanted to make sure EVERYONE could buy EVERY model and spend lots of money with the Storm of Magic thing (because yeah, having a Cygor or whatever with an Empire army isn't ridiculous) this is a chance for GW to expand is sales... now that Marine player can go ahead and buy some Necrons, because they can fight together!
*sigh*
ehm my dear sir did you order a truckfull of salt? its over there right next to common sence and 'tastys trolling again'
Utterly ridiculous. Which, considering it's GW, should come as no surprise. Allies is fine, but you just know they'll start monkeying with fluff in a silly way to make all the cheeseball players happy.
I don't know where you get the idea that tasty is right about rumors. Tasty has been wrong more often than not. The only source I have ever seen be right more than half the time over the last three years is Stickmonkey.
I don't mean to burst your bubble, I just have been around a while and read rumors for a while.
if this was true it would be fucking ridiculous...
being old scool, I am not happy to even see fliers lol. While cool, I never thought they fit the marines/guard feel... The imperium is holding on to its last gasp when it comes to technology not inventing tons of new stuff
Allies = sell more models, and even Codexes, so that makes sense.
Some kind of Imperial civil war would also provide fluff to justify the number of space marine vs space marine battles I see in my area too...
The fluff part makes a lot of sense since Tau have "no warp presence" It shouldn't be possible to possess them, and their faith in the greater good is stronger than the temptation of chaos.
Rules wise, I can see it, Fantasy uses all those things in the new edition, so I wouldn't be surprised.
Allies I'm okay with, but I'd love to see the fluff of why Blood Angels ally with Necrons. I would suspect CSM would be allowed to ally with guard as well (unless rumours are true that the new book will include traitor guard)
The same 3 designers (Cruddice, Ward, Kelley) work on all of GW's games. Not just 40K. We can hope for better, but the same team will probably produce a similar product when designing 40K as they did in Fantasy.
1. We really don't know what 6th is going to be like until it is released (or nearly released), so there's no use getting your knickers in a twist.
2. If you're not sure why I say that, go back and read old posts on BoLS a few months before each new codex was released. The cycle is fairly familiar by now. Rumors start, people get all wee-wee'd up (technical term), then the release comes out, people actually read the material, then they start looking for something new to get drama'd up about. Take a breath and relax. Stuff is going to change and it'll be Ok because the world won't end because of it.
3. With the possibility of flyers coming into the game as a regular feature, I'd like to think that 40K is becoming more like Epic (still their best game system next to BFG), which would be a very good thing.
However, time will tell.
In the mean time, relax and go out and roll some dice.
Life's good.
Cheers,
Allies would be cool. It would sell more models and allow players to mix and match to some extent. Driving the game back towards the casual game it is supposed to be. Buying buildings sounds silly, but let's see teh execution of the rules. For the most part I am not getting too concerned about what rules change until I see the actual product. Then I will sit back and watch everyone spin and complain and still play anyway.
Necrons allied with Blood Angels is in the Blood Angels codex so the fluff already exists.
Ally with Tau, I would rather neck myself. Also if I take allies, that means I am now playing with two codexes and carrying more shite around. My Dark Angels fluff (for the moment) says we pretty much dont trust anyone in case they find out about our secret. So Tau and Necrons can just FO.
I would like to see more of the story develop between the Blood Angels and the Eldar, in particular the fascination that Eldrad Ulthran seems to have for Mephiston. If there was an alliance to be had it has to be the Blood Angels with the Eldar Ulthwe.
