Horus Heresy - Heard at Forge World Open Day

Detailed info on upcoming Forge World releases.

So with those out of the way onto the scraps of information I managed to find out...

  • Imperial Armour 3 - the taros campaign is getting a second edition. It's already at the printers and will contain all tau units according to Talima.
  • Simon Egan has only got a couple of hours more work to put into Fulgrim then he's ready for release at the Horus Heresy Weekender.
  • The next Primarch to be done is Ferrus Manus. It's related to him and Fulgrim that he's up before Massacre comes out.
  • Will is working on an unspecified Mechanicum unit at the moment.
  • Massacre (horus heresy book 2) is hopefully going to be ready for this years games day.
  • When I was chatting to Trish about the Warhammer Fantasy stuff, she said that all work on the Battle for Black Fire Pass is halted until further notice.
  • Simon is solely working on Primarchs for the foreseeable future.
  • Once the heresy landspeeder is complete, that chap (sorry I've forgotten his name) is hoping to resume work on a new Tau suit, it's size will be between an XV8 and a XV25.
  • Will Hayes has been working on some Heresy Tartarus pattern terminators. They don't have the aquilla and will have full Betrayal weapon sets released.

Think that's about it really. Now for the random/cool stuff. Thanks for reading folks. Was an epic day and well worth the ticket price. Oh and on non-FW news, High Elves and Lizardmen were missing from the fantasy cabinets. Loads of different 40k armies and units were also absent. The only thing that I can think of that would warrant that would be another campaign, or a universal expansion such as apocalypse!
From various Warseer posters who attended Forge World Open Day:

Brother Garrod

From what i gathered from chatting to a few designers , it seems that the aim is for a power armour squad , terminator armoured squad and contemptor for all eighteen legions , with associated characters and primarch.

From Neil at Forge World Open Day: @NeilChallis: Primarch Fulgrim is finished! Will be shown at Horus Heresy weekend! Ferrus Manus next, pencilled in for GD2013! Simon Egan said. Also, confirms that there will be a Malcador the Sigillite model and probably Garro later. Hinted very strongly that Argel Tal of the Word Bearers is in development!

The Horus Heresy Books: “After Horus Heresy book 2: Massacre pt 1, comes Horus Heresy Massacre part 2: Extermination!! Featuring Istvaan 5 survivors and Imperial fists vs Iron Warriors!! Should cover 4 legions!

I see most of the pictures of the Heresy stuff have already been posted. I chatted to some of the designers and the thing that struck me was how many of them were new to FW, there's obviously been a big recruitment drive. They also mentioned that warhammer forge has been scaled down to just two people and that's the reason for the delay in the book.

The designer who is doing sons of Horus stuff said that the contemptors was delayed a bit cos he can't get the body right, but the reavers were finished. The command squad was also WIP.

The Fellglaive was meant to be finished this week but needs a few bits done - don't think this will be released till the next book.

iA volume 3 the taros campaign 2nd ed is finished and is at the printers. They had a proof copy there and it looked really good.

I was chatting to the guy designing the iron hands stuff and he's only got started so didn't have much done. Though the painters have been painting up tons of iron hands, which makes sense given ferrus mannus is next after Fulgrim.

Oh and they are going to do more board sections in the style of the crashed thunderhawk. The guys said about doing ruined tanks etc. there are no plans to do any more city tiles at present but he said it is something he would like to do.

The Minotours have a storm eagle variant, which is more shooty.
It has a smaller transport capacity but gets lascannons as standard and roc missiles which are awesome!

Also has some additional USRs which make it harder to kill and make it a bit shootier!

They're still undecided in what order they're going to be bringing out the HH books, the next 2 will be Drop Site massacre (they're hoping to get both out this year!), then it'll be something else after that, Prospero, Signus, Calth, I was specifically asking about Wolves, does seem like they definitely want to get russ out there though

I sadly can't make the Horus Heresy Weekender, and I am really bummed about it.That would have been the highlight of my gaming year.  But the plans for The Horus Heresy are impressive and gaining steam.
