Apocalypse Lord of Skulls Stats
From DoomedDiceThrower on Warseer:
Lord of Skulls
Triple Khorne's sacred number is indeed its point cost. All directly battle revelant stats seem rather mediocre with 3's and 4's (except S which is 10 ofc). no 14's in its armour rating.
But it has 9 Hullpoints, and the rule "Fuelled by Rage", which gives it +1A for every lost HP (keeping that even if the HP is repaired later) up to A: 10.
"Tracked Behemoth": It may not Stomp, but use the "Thunderblitz" table for Ramming and Tank Shock for Superheavy Vehicles.
3 Weapon points, the axe which can't be exchanged (but has S: D !), one template weapon in the belly, one more conventional shooting arm-weapon.
The belly-weapons names:
- Gorestorm Cannon (Hellstorm template, MEQ killy high-S stat, standard loadout)
- Deamongore Cannon (Gorestorm with higher strength, gets hot and Instant Death)
- Ichor Cannon which is a large blast TEQ-killy weapon with slightly lower strength then the other options.
Armweapons:
- Hades Gatling cannon (standard loadout, 12 shots pinning version of what Forgefiends have)
- SKULLHURLER (caption for actually hurling skulls, which is cheesesome) which is an apocalyptic Blast MEQ killy high-S weapon with good range, and special rule "Gnaw" forcing successful saves to reroll.
Thanks to DoomedDiceThrower!
Chapterhouse Studios Kickstarter / GW Pricing Poll
Chapterhouse Studios has a Kickstarter up for alien race defense lines & weapons. I have seen a resin manufacturer in L.A. make these when I was at Adepticon. CHS has some interesting takes. Of course we get Eldar and Tau and Necrons, all of which have easily identifiable aesthetics. Pretty cool stuff. And it has already funded, so we can look forward to some interesting items in the near future.
I also started a poll on Facebook and I hope you will all vote in it. Already we have 55 votes in and the results are telling. Go to our Facebook group to vote. Results tomorrow.

Apocalypse Rumors
Here are the latest rumors on the upcoming Apocalypse, due this coming month!
Apocalypse
To be released July 13th. The first update since Apocalypse was released for 5th edition.
Pictured leaks from the July White Dwarf revealed a Necron Monolith of Doom and a Khorne Skulldozer.
BramGaunt on Warseer
1st: There is a new rulebook, if anyone still questioned that. Complete overhaul. The scale of additional shenanigans will be the same as with a regular rulebook, as well as limited items. Probably a collectors- and a gamers edition aswell (allthough I am only guessing that!).
2nd: The kits we have seen so far cover all the miniatures there will be for now (Khorne "Skulldozer" and Necron "Monolith of Doom + 2D6"). However, there are three new pieces of terrain, which apperantly are of apocalyptic size. A different source told me of a 'commad citadel' behind which the Wraithknight could easily hide.
3rd: Releasedate is the 13th of July, with Preorders starting the 29th (with the new WD, as usual). This is GW's big release this year.
Best_Pone on Warseer
You'll also get some fortifications - giant gun/missile emplacements and the like. These are also designed to hook up with the Wall of Martyrs terrain.
As well as the Apocalypse rulebook, there's also a collector's edition and a gamer's edition.
Opatija on Warseer
Got some quick information about the upcoming release. It´s "just" what the employees were told
- Apocalyspe is mostly about formations with some minor benefits for the "units".
- There will be at least 2 waves for mini supply (Some of the missing miniatures will be released when their own 6th codex is).
- Each army is going to get a super heavy, beeing asked about such a huge release, they were told to keep the Allied Forces in mind, leaving Tyranids aside (speculated as an Imperial/SM Multipart kit) which will hit at around 125,-€ (It´s quite possible that the Chaos thing and the Monolith are the only ones! And Baneblades/Shadowswords are accessable via Allied Forces!).
- A large/multi part piece of Terrain fitting to the "Martyrs"-Line (80,-€/50,-€/30,-€)
Gamers Edition - it's going to include templates and dice but one very curious thing was said: "...containing a Apocalypse Rulebook in your language"
It was specificaly mentioned. I would not have thought GW might release a English-Only Book....but then i was reminded of Dfts...
The Dark General on Warseer
It's a dual kit approx size of baneblade box, but taller model. Makes either the Deathdealer or Lord of Battles.
Also there's a bunch of new data sheets, inlcuding some for those of us that bought multiple NEW models
It's also NOT the only Chaos models coming out, along with a few other Khorne...speedy guys...
Approx price is $125
Bigred from Bols
If you remember, there was chatter for months over TWO Eldar flyer kits that were in production.
The two fighters in the Crimson Hunter/Hemlock box was one AND there was a larger bomber that was sighted by sources. Its possible this bomber is being held for either a second Eldar wave, or Apocalypse. In anycase that bomber didn't ship in the codex-release wave.
The things you will notice compared to the fighter are:
-Lengthier fuselage
-Wider wingspan without the forward curving wings of the fighters
-Dual closely mounted engines per wing (4 engines in total)
-Dual cockpits (pilot and gunner)
-Probably bombs underslung as well
That's it for now!

Chapterhouse vs. Games Workshop Update
Cutting-Edge Decision Protects Industries from Litigation Blocking Add-On Products
CHICAGO, IL – In a classic David-versus-Goliath battle, Winston & Strawn LLP represented Chapterhouse Studios LLC on a pro bono basis in a cutting-edge federal trademark and copyright dispute in the Northern District of Illinois (Games Workshop Limited v. Chapterhouse Studios LLC 1:10-cv-8103). The verdict of this jury trial, held in June 2013 before Judge Matthew Kennelly, confirms that copyright and trademark law should not be used to block add-on products. Winston & Strawn has litigated the case since 2010, and co-counsel law firm Marshall Gerstein joined the matter in 2012.
“This was a classic case of trademark and copyright bullying by a much bigger Plaintiff,” said Jennifer Golinveaux, partner in Winston & Strawn’s San Francisco office. “I am proud of the investment made by the firm, and the many attorneys who devoted themselves to making sure the intellectual property laws were not misused to squash a much smaller player.”
Games Workshop manufactures Warhammer 40,000, a tabletop battle game that works with armies of miniature figures and vehicles, while Chapterhouse sells customized add-on parts for the figures and vehicles used in the game. The United Kingdom-based Games Workshop, a company with $200 million per year in revenues, alleged more than 200 claims of copyright and trademark infringement against Chapterhouse, a small business run out of an individual’s garage in Texas. Games Workshop argued that it was seeking a complete shutdown of Chapterhouse’s entire business and although Games Workshop initially sought over $400,000 in damages, by the end of the two-week jury trial, the plaintiff dropped its damages demand to only $25,000.
The jury deliberated for more than two days and found that Chapterhouse could continue to make and sell over a hundred products without fear of copyright infringement. The jury also confirmed that Chapterhouse could continue to use most of Games Workshop’s asserted trademarks when selling compatible parts, including all nine of Games Workshop’s registered trademarks. Together with the summary judgment wins, the jury’s verdict confirmed Chapterhouse can continue to make and sell 111 products that Games Workshop hoped to block using copyright laws, and can continue to use 104 words and phrases that Games Workshop said were trademarked.
Imron Aly, lead trial attorney and partner in Winston & Strawn’s Chicago office added, “It was a pleasure to represent a small entrepreneur like Nicholas Villacci of Chapterhouse, who has a passion for his work and wanted to see his business survive.”

Chapterhouse vs. GW. The Verdict!
The Games Workshop vs. Chapterhouse Studio lawsuit has been a topic of conversation for over a year now and now it is over (almost). And frankly, GW lost and I am happy they got slammed. They deserved it due to their constant corporate overeach and claim of trademarks they don't own.
From BoLS:
The jury is done and we have a verdict.
Some initial notes:
This is a Jury Verdict, and has not yet become a Final Judgement
Breaking down the counts along the different categories we have:
Copyright Claims:
160 claims alleged against CHS -GW won on 1/3 of the claims, including items such as CHS' Powerfists -CHS won on 2/3 of the claims, including the use of the underlying shape and size of GW Shoulderpads.
General Trademark Claims:
9 claims alleged against CHS -CHS won all 9 claims, including either no infringement, or fair use of the GW trademarks on CHS' website.
Disputed Trademark Claims:
21 disputed trademark claims alleged against CHS CHS won 11 claims GW won 10 claims
GW Trademarks ruled "Previously Used in Commerce" Claims:
61 claims alleged against CHS CHS won 35 claims GW won 27
Notable Trends and Individual Products Under Dispute:
CHS lost on some individual products including: -Doomseer -Dark Elf Arch Tortress
CHS won on some individual products including: -Jetbike -Super-heavy walker model -Lizard Ogre
Damages Awarded:
CHS ordered to pay GW damages of $25,000 USD
Both sides may appeal the ruling.
Thoughts and Implications:
It's looking like however CHS as an entity comes out of this ruling, the implications for the 3rd party industry are profound.
-The ruling of no infringement for the use of the underlying shape and size of GW shoulderpads is now on the legal record. -Possibly more important is not guilty verdicts on the use of GW trademarks and terms on the CHS website. -While certain CHS products themselves may disappear from the Earth in the aftermath of this case, it looks like the verdict may have provided a clear blueprint for the 3rd party accessory bits market. One that allows legal use of certain GW trademarks and terms in a way that goes way beyond what Nottingham themselves ever wished to allow.
And read more in the BoLS Forum thread on the subject here. My views tomorrow.

Custom BFG Fleet on eBay for Charity
In order to help raise funds for Barn and his family I am auctioning off a one-of-a-kind custom Battlefleet Gothic fleet on ebay:
Every cent from the auction will be donated to the Barnbrooks (the models, listing fees and postage are all coming out of my own pocket). Even if you're not into BFG yourself, please spread the word so that we can get lots of bidding!
Let’s get down to business. This fleet has been designed as a competitive, stylised 1500 point Voss fleet for Battlefleet Gothic. It is composed of the following:
2x Mars class Battlecruisers
1x Dominator class cruiser
1x Gothic class cruiser
2x Endurance class light cruisers
5x Sword class frigates
4x Cobra class destroyers
These are all converted from the standard imperial plastic cruisers. I have fitted custom prows and one of the battlecruisers has a bridge and superstructure section taken from a Chaos cruiser. The Dominator has a different style of Nova Cannon fitted to further differentiate it from the others.
These are resin casts of the custom design I created. They have been fitted with standard plastic Imperial lance decks (however note that I have not fitted the lance turrets – these will be supplied in a bag so they can be glued into the desired positions).
These are custom designs by myself that I have recast in resin. In this fleet they are standing in as Sword and Cobra class ships.
As if all of the above custom goodness weren’t enough, I have gone one step further and added custom bases. These are resin cast and include bearing and fire arc indicators moulded into them. Escort sized ships are mounted on a styrene rod and all other ships are mounted using a brass rod. This means no more snapped stems!
That’s right – I will package the fleet very carefully and post it via registered airmail to anywhere in the world for free!
All ships will be supplied assembled but unpainted. Some have been partially primed. For shipping I will remove them all from their bases – superglue will need to be used to re-fix them.

The following rules will be used for this scenario game:
• Warhammer 40,000, 6th Edition Rules
• Warhammer 40k Apocalypse and Apocalypse Reloaded
• All Official Game Workshop Published FAQs and Datasheets
• All Forgeworld Imperial Armor Publications and FAQs
Note: The order of precedence for rules is as follows
• Scenario Special Rules/Restrictions (see bleow)
• Games Workshop rules, Datasheets, and FAQs
• Forgeworld rules and FAQs (Datasheets for Apocalypse overrides Rules in Imperial Armor)
• Adepticon INAT FAQ
Special Rules:
• Turns will be times. Each player turn will be 45 minutes. Any actions not completed by the end of the turn’s time will not occur. Any actions partially completed at the end of a turn’s time limit are halted immediately and we move on to the next player turn.
• Each player should plan on a 3000 to 5000 point force from any Games Workshop Codex:
• Each player should plan on bringing an army with at least 1 HQ and 2 Troop choices for each Codex they will use. I.e. if a player wanted to bring Space Marines and Imperial Guard, at minimum a single HQ choice must be selected from each Codex and at minimum 2 Troop choices must be selected from each Codex. Thus at minimum that player will have 1 Space Marine HQ, 1 Imperial Guard HQ, 2 Space Marine Troops, and 2 Imperial Guard Troop choices. Lastly, an additional category will be used, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), which includes Super Heavies and Gargantuan Creatures. Note: WMDs will be limited to no more than 3 per player, and no WMD may have more than 4 structure points.
• Each Player may choose one free Strategic Asset from Warhammer 40k Apocalypse or Apocalypse Reloaded. Additional Strategic Assets are allowed only if granted by a chosen formation.
• The Strategic Asset “Flank March” is only allowed for a formation that grants it and then can only be used by that formation, regardless of what the Data Sheet states.
• Pulsarokits and Deathstrike Missiles are limited to 1 per player
• Disruptor Beacons are modified to only work within a 12 inch radius and also only activate on a 5+
So if you are close, go and play. There is no one I would rather play with than these guys!

Games Workshop Follow Up
Well, a lot of discussion has come from my post yesterday of a source who said Games Workshop is in the midst of a sale. A few clarifications.
1) Games Workshop is a public company traded in the UK on the FTSE. That means it has very different rules and regulations than for companies publicly traded on an American Exchange.
2) Games Workshop is a fairly closely held public company. That means that a few number of shareholders, in their case, institutions, hold the majority of the shares. Tom Kirby, as Chairman and acting CEO, is very tight with each of these institutions, as some are represented on the board, and others are merely just invested for the long haul.
3) If a sale is in the works, the parties would simply need to get the approval of these limited number of shareholders, and then execute the actual sale contract at a later date. There would be no requirement to tell the minor shareholders of the pending sale until a document was executed.
4) In these transactions, typically a binding letter of intent would be put in place, based on the successful execution of the acquiring parties due diligence would be typical.
This is what happened with T-Mobil and AT&T last year, where the sale was conditional upon regulator approval. When that approval was not going to be forthcoming, T-Mobile got a sweet $ 1 billion payment from AT&T for the deal falling through.
I am not familiar with English law, so I do not know when disclosure is required and for what actions by the board of directors. Anyone who knows for a fact, please chime in.
And everyone in experience in business and public companies, has known that something was up for a while. But the last couple weeks there have been so many indications that this is happening. No one thing that you can point to, just a lot of little things. When my source said it is done, I asked him more questions, to which he couldn't supply answers
Also, both BoLS and Faeit212 authors have said something is up. Natfka posted this on the comments of yesterday's article:
"However, you may be on to something regarding the sale. I just received something as well on it. going to go live with it."
And
"Something is going on. A long time source of mine has chimed in."
So we will wait and see.
