Forgeworld Games Day Seminar Notes - The Horus Heresy

Well, the Horus Heresy news from Forgeworld has been well discussed.  Mostly arguments about why fanboys don't want the Horus Heresy to be in game form vs. those like me who LOVE the idea.  But here is some more info that came out of the Forgeworld Seminar:

Horus Heresy will be an ongoing series of books.

All Major Factions, Space Marine or otherwise, will be covered.

The 6th Edition rulebook will be controlling.  So the books will use 6th Edition rules.

These are not technically "Imperial Armour" books, but a separate line of books.

LOTS of models to go with the books.

The books will be large, deluxe format books.

Plus, some rumors that have been circulated:

It is not clear how the chapters will be released.  Will it follow the order of the Horus Heresy books from The Black Library, or will it be strictly chronological, or will it be something else?

Supposedly no new models, but chapter upgrades and characters.    However, this goes against what we heard in the seminar, which was pretty specific that there would be LOTS of models to go with the series.  Personally, I think this rumor is wrong.  Forge World doesn't put out big, impressive books, without lots of models to sell.

That is all for now!

  1. Have to admit, after hearing for SO long that GW would never do the Heresy... Well, seeing this does sound like it will at the least be fun. And hoping that it is really 6th ed 40K, and so we might get some variety out there playing the game at a rate a bit faster than GW does codex updates, etc...

  2. Now if they combined new models (primarchs), new books (Info on stats to use them and forces during the HH time), and... *heart beating* having the stuff available in GW stores... Oh oh I will be making my christmas list for the next 3 years ready to go on this!!! Laugh!

  3. Can't wait to get Dorn in an Apoc game. That being said, I probably won't be able to afford 30k for another year or two. Oh Forge World; why must you always tempt me so?

  4. I think the was no new non-unique models. Like they're not doing versions of stuff already existing in 40k.

I expect we'll see lots and lots of models, just not to the extent of the Death Korp of Krieg getting an entire line, but more along the lines of the Cadian Hostile Environment set.
