All Quiet on the Rumor Front - London Landing

As I was flying all day yesterday, it was nice to know that there were no new rumors to report, as I was in the air without wi-fi (International flights do not yet have wi-fi, whereas domestic flights all do on Delta).

The trip over to London went very well.  My strategically placed box of See's chocolates, combined with a sweet note about how much I loved Delta Airlines (I really think they are the best domestic airline and fly nothing else) earned me a First Class upgrade.  And First Class is the way to go when you are flying across the ocean.  Better food, fully recline-able seats that turn into a lie-flat bed, electrical outlets.  Yep, you fly like a king (or Bill Gates).

When I got to London I met my friend Giles Aston, who is well known look-alike for Patrick Stewart.  I met Giles at the 2006 Christie's Auction House Star Trek Prop Auction, and he and I have been friends since.  He of course took me for the above photographed Fish & Chips and a pint.

My friend Giles really does look like Sir Patrick!

Me standing in front of Sean Connery's old apartment from before his Bond days.

Sir Connery in his youth!

Then off on the train to Nottingham, which I slept on the whole way.  That damn jet-lag.  I got to the Belfry Nottingham Hotel and found that they had no US Power conversion adaptors!  UGH.  So off to the local shopping conglomerate to secure one.  Thank god for Boots!  That store (Former employer of the recently departed GW CEO Mark Wells) is like any US drug store that has everything.

Then back to the hotel and worked on the computer till 12:30.  The trick to overcoming jet-lag when flying to Europe is to stay up all day when you arrive and then take some sleep meds!  I woke up at 9am and feel great.

So it is off to Warhammer World!  The Horus Heresy Weekender starts tomorrow, but I will be hanging around Warhammer World all day.  If you see a bloke in a white long sleeve sweater and jeans, come say hi.  We can go to Bugman's and grab a pint.

Otherwise, 9:00 at the bar in the Belfry for all you HH Weekender guests!

  4. Enjoy your trip Loken! Im sure it will be a fun weekend. Interesting tactic with the chocolates. I once flew internationally and sat next to someone that always books the emergency exit seat by the door that doesnt require an extra fee and as he gives the stewardesses a bottle of champagne as he he boards. We ended up being poured a glass of champagne before take off and received 1st class service all the way. It was a great flight.
