Hoard O' Bits to Close Down and Relaunch

Hoard o' Bits has announced that they are taking their inventory down and relaunching it in mid-February.

It seems the rising shipping costs both domestically and oversseas is hurting their bottom line.  Hoard O' bits has become the leader in miniature bits on eBay and I have had successful transaction with them many times.  While I often find their prices very high, I have selectively bought bits when I found the prices reasonable.  And of course the auction format pretty much nails the current market price.

Here is their email:

!! Attention !!
All stock will be removed January 23rd.
New Shipping Policy coming

We just reviewed new postal changes going into effect next week. Amoung other things international shipping is going up double and tripple. Currently our smallest cheapest international package costs us to ship $2.76. The same package next week will cost us $8.28 to ship.

Smaller price increase to domestic mail, but other changes are expected that we still do not have all the details on.

In short, we will loose money on all our items the way we currently sell them. Massive changes need to be made. Neither our site nor eBay have a simple way to make these changes.

As of January 23rd we will pull down all inventory from our website and eBay. We will immediately begin a full inventory count and adding items back to both platforms with the ridiculous new shipping profiles.

We expect it will be mid Febuary before all of our current stock returns for sale. Please make all purchases over the next few days to take advantage of the current shipping profile or if you need the items we currently offer as it may be a month before they are available once again.

Additional sales have been added to all our items on our website and eBay.

Last chance for great price deals and cheap shipping!

All the best!

So if you need bits buy them now or shop their competitors!

  1. what i find a little strange is that hoarobits is the only us based bits seller that has actually mentioned anything about the postage price increase, unless someone has received a mail from another supplier? also, i tried and pretty much failed to see where the heck that price increase came from, and that's after browsing the heck out of the usps website. yes prices are going up, but 300%? that seems a wee bit of there to be honest :(

  2. Well, I spoke to Rob from Spikey Bits and he didn't quite get the price increase thing. I agree, I ship all the time for my company, and while shipping overseas is now ridiculous, domestically it hasn't changed.
