40K Flyers up on Advance order!

Well, Games Workshop has released the Flyers on Advance order and we get our first good pics of them!  Plus, I copied the relevant parts about the actual kits for your perusal.

First the new White Dwarf:

Space Marine Stormtalon Gunship

This multi-part plastic boxed set contains 90 components (including a clear plastic canopy) with which to build one Space Marine Stormtalon Gunship. It can be equipped with an array of weapons including a twin-linked heavy bolter, a twin-linked assault cannon, a twin-linked lascannon, a typhoon missile launcher or a skyhammer missile launcher. It comes with a flying stem and large oval base, as well as a Space Marine Vehicle transfer sheet.

Ork Bommer

This multi-part plastic boxed set contains 114 components (including a clear plastic canopy) with which to build one Ork Bommer, and it can make either a Dakkajet, Burna-Bommer or Blitza-Bommer. As well as a Grot Gunner, it includes a range of weapons options: a big shoota, boom bombs, burna bombs, skorcha rokkits and supa shootas - everything budding flyboyz need to create big explosions. It comes with a flying stem and large oval base, as well as an Ork Bommer transfer sheet.

Necron Night Scythe/Doom Scythe

This multi-part plastic boxed set contains 51 components with which to build one Necron Night Scythe or Necron Doom Scythe, and its weapons include a twin-linked tesla destructor and a death ray. It comes with a flying stem and large oval base, as well as a Necron transfer sheet.

Rules are on the Games Workshop website.

  1. As much of a die-hard Space Marine player I am, I am still not completely sold on the Stormtalon. I might use it as something for a Squat army though.

  2. I expect to see a lot of the Blitza Bommas as anti-vehicle tech for the Orks. Bombs are Str 7 +2d6 pen if things go well, and Str 9 +1d6 pen if there is a mishap in the bombing run. Gives them a fast, longer-ranged, armor-buster. Which I think people will flock to. The Dakkajet looks most useful (all that shooting, BS 3 against troops), but all should be popular.

  3. It is weird that they don't show the Storm Talon with a Storm Raven or really any other units. It doesn't look so bad when you see that it really is just a bigger version of a Land Speeder and not a shrunk-down Thunderhawk. The price tag should be the first clue.

  4. After looking at the Stormtalon closer, I think it would look better if the chin turret was removed. I just have to figure out where else to mount it.
