Forge World Releases Heresy Era Land Raider Achilles

Forge World has released their Heresy-era version of the durable Achilles Land Raider.

And they can have twin-linkedVolkite Culverins as sponson weapons!

From Forge World

The Achilles-Alpha pattern Land Raider is the most durable vehicle currently in the service of the Legiones Astartes. These vehicles shrug off weapon strikes that would cripple other battle tanks, and are proof against even the most toxic environment. The weaponry of these vehicles is formidable, featuring an advanced quad launcher and powerful volkite batteries.

The Achilles-Alpha pattern Land Raider model, designed by Stuart Williamson, is a complete multi-part resin and plastic kit that comes with the option of either twin-linked multi-meltas or twin-linked volkite culverins as sponson weapons. This model is available to pre-order now and will be despatched from Friday January 31st.

You can buy it on the Forge World website here.  It costs £70 or $ 115

I need 3.  But I think I will settle for one.  While $ 115 isn't bad compared to the $ 75 for a basic Land Raider, it is still $ 115!

  1. That thing looks slick. I usually prefer the 40k era tanks to the heresy ones, but I think this one looks a little cooler than the original. :)

  2. Those look amazing, i'm just too impatient to wait for it to come all the way from England, so I took a Thunderfire cannon and dropped it in the heavy bolter slot of my Land Raider, it only sits about an eight of an inch higher than that one.

Naturally mine does not have the FW Sponsons, but those can be made from Quad Gun barrels or Plasma Cannons bits from Dreadnoughts.

    Great rules though...

    Ok i'm done, Cookie please.

  3. So without sounding like a "Douche".....This looks like a normal landraider with Culverin sponsons. Nothing about this says Heresy, except the weapons fit, which arguably I could have just grabbed from another set and added to the standard Achilles. All the other Heresy Era Vehicles have some embellishments and nice touches, compare the Rhino and it's Heresy Era version. I had the cash 5 months ago for an Achilles for my Iron Hands, but was told a Heresy-Era one was in the offing. I held off, hoping for a Spartan type or maybe like the Cerebrus, Typhon or Proteus, with the reworked hemispherical sponsons, maybe even a Sicaran variant.....Instead it's a normal Achilles with MkIIB Sponsons that mount a Heresy Era weapon. I'm a little underwhelmed, but cheered myself up by buying a Sicaran Battle Tank, and 3 of the Dwarf Quad Guns from MANTIC. I
