Forge World New Tau Riptide Variant

Forge World has released the first Riptide variant, and it will be available for the first time at Games Day UK.

It isn't cheap at £ 70 (About $ 135) but it is big!

From Forge World:

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be previewing some of the models that will be available at Games Day UK, the first of which is the Tau XV107 R’Varna Battlesuit. A development of the Riptide, the R’Varna sacrifices mobility for heavier armour and increased firepower in the form of two pulse submunition cannon.

The XV107 R’Varna, designed by Daren Parrwood, is a multi-part resin and plastic kit. We will have stock of this new kit at the Forge World stand at Games Day UK on Sunday September 29th at the Birmingham NIA. If you would like to purchase a ticket for this event, click here.

Please note that we cannot take reservation orders for this model as stock numbers will be limited.

It looks like a beast, and I hope Tau players take to them.  I would love to see one on my battlefield.

  2. Current USD to GBP puts it at $110.72 not $135+ the currency has not fluctuated that much either in the past few months. 1gbp to 1.58usd

  3. Since when do GW prices reflect the exchange rate? I'm betting the $135 was based on current GW US prices compared to their GW UK counterparts.

And before any of you Americans complain about this bear in mind US companies have been doing this to us in the UK for years on everything from DVDs to TVs, let the nation which is without blame cast the first stone...

  4. Craig I take it you have never bought from FW before.
FW does not seel in US prices other than at the cons held in the USA. This is being released at Gamesday UK.
Its listed on FW page at 70gbp.. look up the gbp to usd conversion rate, then do some simple math.
Thats how fw sells every thing.

XE.com is what they use for the conversion rate that's billed to you bank/CC co..which then usually add a foreign currency transaction fee..
At conventions out of the UK they set a higher rate than what the rates are currently trading for too. So its always a bad Idea to by at the cons since you usually end up paying significantly more (5-15%), and in the USA you also pay sales tax too, on top of the VAT tax that already factored in to the base price.

  5. FW sells their stuff at cons like it's priced in the catalogue. It's way more expensive like that. Best order online.
