Gamesday 2013 was yesterday in Memphis, and Forge World was there in force as usual.
John Owens, our Gamesday
correspondent, sent us these photos and filed this report. The new Space Marine Battle Tank has a name now, the Sicaran Battle Tank, and we got to see it painted. We also saw the Castellax Battle Automata for the first time, and it is a beauty! New Contemptors for the Iron Hands and Sons of Horus.

Plus for those of you who missed the last article, a repeat:
The Fire Raptor Space Marine Flyer from Forge World. It looks like a gunship version of the Storm Raven. Armed with a chin mounted Avenger Canon and two twinlinked side mounted Heavy Bolters, this baby is in their for close air support
John Owens, our Gamesday correspondent, filed these photos and spoke with Simon WIlliamson. Simon said he just finished work on the Fire Raptor and we should expect to see it January/February as the Forge World team usually takes about 6 months for a mold to be made and stock to be built up for release.
Thanks to John for his hard work getting all these photos and interviewing Forge World personnel!

That's not the first time we have seen the Castellex - we saw plenty of them at the Heresy Weekender we were at.
ReplyDeleteWas it? I don't remember, but I am old. Will check.
ReplyDeleteSure was, I took loads of pics of the unpainted ones and the painted ones which were on the display table.

Its not, I've been lusting after them since the FW open day. . . .
ReplyDeleteNow I want one of those Sicarian tanks too. . .
And the SoH command squad . .
And the SoH contemptor . .
Anyone want to buy a kidney?
Hes right, difference is now these are cimplete, molded and in production to be released soon. I was excited to see the robot from the weekender here.
ReplyDeleteThat first tank looks an awful lot like the Russian Golgatha that was floating around a few years ago. Weird?
ReplyDeleteI will send Loken more once I had a night of rest, besides I blasted him with a lot of stuff lol
ReplyDeleteAnd we appreciate it!!
ReplyDeleteSomebody slipped in a Warmachine model in front of the Castellax sign!
ReplyDeleteI would not say they were there in force..
ReplyDeleteThere was one sculptor there with 4 not seen models, and several models not for sale in the USA ( had friends at WHW pick up several of them last weekend like the deimos WW and Javelin). There was no FW seminar, yet there was one for Black Library. To be honest from talking to Simon and several others that spoke with him,he really did not want ot be there, and most of his answers were as short as they could be.On the other hand Jeremy V. and Matt H. would literally talk your ears off on any thing and every thing and genuinely seemed happy to be shearing their work and their hobby with every one. This was the first time I've been to a games day with so little FW presence. Normally GD Usa and UK they go all out and have multiple scuplters and writers just for FW.
I have to agree with bigbadbull on some of this. I cannot remember a Games Day that had so few studio guests. Simon really did not want to be there, guessing he drew the short straw. However, this is the first time in my many GD that I recall seeing FW upcoming models (I must be blind, cause Im a FW junkie). Jeremy and Matt were real pleasant. When I talked to Simon, a lot of his response were short, I tried to save him from one chap that was nerding out big time with his ideas and you could tell Simon was bored.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed with no FW seminar, but I get the impression the US Games Day is low on the totem pole for showing us stuff...like we are the red headed step child (no offence to any). Dan Abnett and Mike Lee were pleasant to talk to, got some an inside look on how they form the legions based of 3 archetypes.
