Eldar Special Edition Codex Still Available
Games Workshop sent out an email stating that there were 350 copies left of the Eldar Special Edition Codex.
You can buy it here, but at $ 100 I have to say, you better be a VERY hardcore Eldar fan. These books never hold their value. Just try and sell a 4th or 5th edition limited edition Rulebook now and you will be lucky to get 1/5th the original price.
You can also download the digital version of the Eldar Codex. But at $ 49.99 this is very expensive. Think about it. Games workshop doesn't have to PRINT The digital Codex, so already they are saving the $ 5 or so it costs to print the codex in China (I printed catalogs for Propworx in China and know how cheap it is). Plus they have zero labor costs in shipping it.
Now a rational strategy would be to charge $ 50 for the codex and add the Digital version on for maybe $ 19.95 more. If you want just the digital version, then you pay maybe $ 39.95.
But what do I know? I don't run an intergalactic monopoly that squeezes every last dime out of its loyal customers.

Last week it was 600 left. So they only sold 250 of these, world-wide, in a week?
ReplyDeleteThis is what happens when you triple dip every single codex release.
ReplyDeleteSomething something... darkside. Something something... complete.
ReplyDeleteThese codex's are a joke. All that extra money for a dust cover. They could of at least included the Psy cards for that money. And i think the limited edition should of also come with a code for the digital version. if they did that they would sell nice and fast. it doesn't cost them anything to throw in a digital copy for free. The copy's they actually do sell on iBooks more than covers there server storage costs.
ReplyDeleteno wonder
ReplyDeleteits just got a paper cover
and instead of the eldar name on it, it has black sides and a ribbon
the more cost on it for GW is a few bucks per peace
kinda funny that they don´t sell those off but on the other hand they have jet again not enough stock for indi retailers
