This surfaced in an update made available yesterday. |
With a clarification to the transport rule in the digital version of Codex Necrons, it seems a new FAQ could be on the way. We can now see that units embarked in a Night Scythe that is destroyed now take no damage. This change appeared yesterday, but has yet to work it's way to the FAQ. Keep an eye out for updates, soon.

Oh this is going to upset quite a lot of people on the internet. Am i wrong to understand that necron jump infantry and jetbikes do not take up 2 transport capacity or is this specified elsewhere?
ReplyDeleteFIrst of all, just noticed that the transport capacity is 15... thats horrible!
ReplyDeleteSecondly... I can see why they would do this, but for gaming it just makes the night scythe that much better. Have you got your croissants yet?
Well, I got 2 Flyers for Christmas, so this is great news for me. As far as croissants go, I took a hacksaw to mine so the "wings" are at an angle (think Klingon Bird of Prey) because crissants are for EATING not FLYING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the fluff goes, the Necron Flyers really don't carry anything at all, they open a portal to a Tomb World (just like the Monoliths) and that is why the "passengers" don't get destroyed.
I remember in an FAQ that the Jet Bikes take two spaces, but I will need to check on the Jump Infantry.

@CLB: I think they took it out because it's now covered in the main rule book. There's no longer a need to specify as it's now universal :)
ReplyDelete@Skari: I've got my Stormtalons for bringing them down... but AHHHHHHHH!
@Wild Bill: It's understood that it was specified in the fluff, but 40k has always had degrees of abstraction that usually see everyone following the same main rules. It's been a big question until now whether it would do so or not.
Bulky and Very Bulky.... those are the rules you're looking for. Jump Packers are Bulky and Jetbikes are very bulky.
ReplyDeleteAs far as it's capacity, that hasn't changed. Also, now that the rules have been clarified, the invasion beams work like they used to in 5th so everything is back to the way it should be.
This makes sense really, they are teleported in, so they arent physically onboard the craft. So if it is destroyed they have to walk onto the battlefield.
ReplyDelete@Ian: Hahaha, yeah. Well, as long as it's something official to go off of. Been waiting for clarification on this for months.
