Well, Day 1 of Adepticon is down and it was a blast. Friday was the 40K Championships qualifying rounds. The final rounds happen Sunday.
Here are the top 16 players who qualified for Sunday. Of course 7 are Grey Knights players. Seems that this is the flavor of the year.
| 1 | Alexsnder Fennell | Necrons | 40 | 11 | 22 | ||||
| 2 | Tony Grippando | Grey Knights | 40 | 11 | 22 | ||||
| 3 | Mike Mutscheller | Space Wolves | 40 | 11 | 15 | ||||
| 4 | Justin Cook | Grey Knights | 40 | 10 | 20 | ||||
| 5 | Bill Kim | Chaos Demons | 40 | 10 | 19 | ||||
| 6 | Jose Mendez | Dark Angels | 40 | 10 | 16 | ||||
| 7 | Joakim Engstrom | Grey Knights | 40 | 9 | 15 | ||||
| 8 | Doug Johnston | Orks | 40 | 9 | 14 | ||||
| 9 | Rickey Johnston | Orks | 40 | 7 | 22 | Dropped Out | |||
| 10 | Brett Perkins | Imperial Guard | 40 | 6 | 20 | ||||
| 11 | Paul Murphy | Grey Knights | 40 | 6 | 15 | ||||
| 12 | Tony Kopach | Space Wolves | 35 | 11 | 19 | ||||
| 13 | Dave Ankarlo | Grey Knights | 35 | 8 | 21 | ||||
| 14 | Brad Chester | Grey Knights | 35 | 8 | 19 | ||||
| 15 | Nick Nanavati | Grey Knights | 35 | 8 | 18 | ||||
| 16 | Reece Robbins | Eldar | 35 | 8 | 18 | ||||
| 17 | Tim Gorham | Grey Knights | 35 | 8 | 17 | Alternate |
What is most impressive is not that 7 of the top 16 are Grey Knights. Not too hard to win with them. Butthat a Necron player is first, two Ork players are in the top 10, and a Chaos Daemon player is FIFTH!
Winning with Chaos Daemons shows real skill. Kudos to those players who did not jump on the Grey Knight band wagon.
Loken
Reece got in there with his Foodar, eh? I look forward to seeing how that pans out, too. Glad to see the top player was a Necron player.
ReplyDeleteHope someone posts that Necron list. Nice to see them at the top of the heap.
ReplyDeleteI gotta see this Footdar list.
ReplyDeleteProbably a variant of the one he always uses. You can see it at www.frontlinegaming.org or check for Team0comp on youtube. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the fact that a DA player is in 6th.
ReplyDeleteJust want to say thanks for the great coverage

ReplyDeleteSo the numbers listed above are?
ReplyDeleteBattle Points----mission objectives----sportsmanship or strength of schedule?
Of the 66 (approx) Grey Knights that took part, 8 were in the top 17...which means 58 didn't, which means that 88% of GK players did not finish in the top. Of the 41 (approx) Space Wolves that took part, 2 were in the top 17...which means 39 didn't, which means that 95% of SW players did not finish. The same is true of IG. Basically popular codexs do not make them auto win. It just means they are popular...nothing more.
ReplyDeleteNo one can say any codex is autowin at the moment but GK are much better and the stats from the tournament suggest so as well. 25% of runners were GK and over 40% of the final 16 were GK which means they were over-performed. Also everyone now knows GK very well and most armies built are designed to beat GK. BUT still they out do everyone.
