I am blogging live from GAMA, the Game Manufacturers Association trade show in Las Vegas. GAMA is the place where game manufacturers show off their new games to retailers from across the country, who come here to see the latest and greatest, meet the companies whose product they sell all year long, complain about what they don't like, and attend seminars on how to make their stores better.
The show started last night with retailer seminars on store site selection, promotions, marketing and negotiating commercial leases. Today the seminars are on everything from Social Networking (sat in on it...pretty basic) to opening multiple stores to store design to more marketing! And then tonight, the seminars are on writing a press release, managing employees, and a lot of seminars whose name tells me nothing about what it will be about!
Today's schedule:
Now tomorrow, Wednesday, the exhibit hall opens at 1:00pm. This is what most retailers come to see, as every game company will be there. Of course it is not just miniatures. There are plenty of RPG's (including Fantasy Flight Games), CCG's, board games, you name it.
So I will be here till tomorrow night and I will post about the exhibit hall multiple times tomorrow.
Alec
