Even easier to rationalise taking now even if just as Elite support. cheaper then TH Termies and get ranged shots.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07280635647159401790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195382392714943771.post-13948784271048511392014-03-04T06:19:20.490-08:002014-03-04T06:19:20.490-08:00Daniel,
80 marines all with 3+ inv and Slow and ...Daniel,
80 marines all with 3+ inv and Slow and Purposeful; 4 squads with melta and MM and 4 with Plas and Plasma Cannon (no need for flamers already ignore cover). Rerolling deep strike upon landing means I land where I want and obliterate each chosen target upon landing. Every marine will get a 3+ inv against any retaliatory shots no matter the AP. Oh yah they get 2 attacks base; so even in CC they hold their own when jumped. Yah I can see 80 of them threatening armies easy. They get to strike first at any chosen target, before you get to retaliate.

I'm envious that GW is so blatantly allowing them to do what they knee capped my Deathwing from doing. Keeping you from shooting for a full turn. (And yah, If you get to field as themselves, I'm sure GW has special rule to void the auto lose rule, at least for turn 1) so I’d take full advantage of it.

In my normal SM army, I normally field a 6 man squad with melta and MM that lands same time as my TH termies and really mess with backfield defense allowing normal Tac squads breathing room on turn 3 to do their job securing and digging in for last turns. Hasn't failed me yet, they take out what ever Heavy is greatest threat to Tacs on landing every time. They stick long enough to take out at least another target before going down, and that only happens if the enemy is willing to commit most of army firing at them and TH termies for a full turn.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07280635647159401790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195382392714943771.post-24054744427568190872014-03-04T00:50:25.597-08:002014-03-04T00:50:25.597-08:00I would guess that to avoid the auto lose you will...I would guess that to avoid the auto lose you will want to take an allied detachment of something else, representing the beleaguered imperial force getting a kick in. I mean can you really fill an army with 8 units of 10 marines anyway? a 1k game maybe but 1500? 1850? I can't imagine doing very well either not exactly a balanced list.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08753322658562952859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5195382392714943771.post-54521309059731565082014-03-04T00:38:03.507-08:002014-03-04T00:38:03.507-08:00Ethereal Bolts sounds pretty sweet.Ethereal Bolts sounds pretty sweet.JimmyGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16971529299017408420noreply@blogger.com
