Forge World Releases Abaddon and Loken - Photos and Video

These are good times to be a fan of the Horus Heresy.  The first three novels in the series introduced us to the pre-heresy Horus, and his Mournival, which included 40K legend Ezekyle Abaddon and the new character of Garviel Loken.  Well, Forge World has finally released the model of Abaddon and Loken, and it is a beauty.  It also costs a hefty $ 84!

From Forge World:

Ezekyle Abaddon, First Captain of the Sons of Horus and Master of the Justaerin, was one of the most renowned and fanatically loyal commanders of the XVIth Legion. A hulking brute of a Space Marine, whispered rumour had long speculated that he was the clone-progeny of the Warmaster himself. Regardless, Abaddon walked willingly into treachery alongside his master, slaughtering many of his former comrades on the blasted fields of Isstvan III, and soon his name was amongst the most feared and despised of the traitor Horus’ followers.

Garviel Loken once commanded the 10th Company of the Luna Wolves Legion; later the Sons of Horus. He was a well-respected and senior commander, and one of the Mournival, the unofficial cadre of Horus’ closest advisors. His idealism and staunch loyalty to the Emperor and Humanity saw him selected to command the Sons of Horus contingent in the assault against the recidivists of Isstvan III. When the true scope of betrayal was revealed, Loken and his comrades cast aside their Legion name and proclaimed themselves Luna Wolves once more.

Set of two multi-part resin models packed with Legion-specific iconography and supplied in a black presentation box. The figures slot into a large scenic base to allow the fateful duel between the two to be represented. Also supplied with one 40mm and one 20mm base for gaming purposes. Models designed by Simon Egan. You can watch an interview with Simon about his approach to sculpting these fantastic figures here. Available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday the 1st of March.

You can see more photos of Abbadon and Loken and buy a set at Forge World here.

Rumored New Apocalypse NOT Forge World

Credit to Faeit 212 for correcting a simple error in his blog that I reported on.  The rumor that he got in his email box, stating that Forge World would release the new 6th edition Apocalypse Rules DID NOT say Forgeworld in it.

Canberra, Australia joins The Big Game III

The Big Game III is coming to Caberra, Australia!  Canberra Good Games is hosting a game for the Big Game III and if you are in Canberra, make sure you join the fun!

New Apocalypse Rulebook Rumors - Suspect?

Is there a new Apocalypse book coming?  The rumors are out, but they are very questionable.  Why?  Because the rumor says that the new Apoc rulebook will be from Forgeworld.  Now some sites are reporting this rumor, originally sent to Faeit 212, with "Forgeworld" and some report it without.
*New Forgeworld Apocalypse book set for release in June/ July
*Contents Include
-Rules for 6th edition including new point costs
-New formations including flying squadrons
-New Asset Card
-New Scenarios
-Battle Reports

So the question is how legit is this rumor?  We have heard from other sources that a new Apocalypse rulebook is near, so this is no stretch, but will it be relegated to Forgeworld?  That seems unlikely.  We shall see......

Forge World New Horus Heresy Releases

Forge World has released a new World Eater squad for the Horus Heresy as well as a number of shoulder pads for the Cataphractii Terminators.

From Forge World:

The Rampager squads of the World Eaters were formed of the most savage and bloodthirsty Space Marines in a Legion already notorious for its fury in battle. All underwent the prohibited psycho-surgery that Angron is believed to have instigated among his favoured sons, and those who survived honed their newly enhanced desire for berserk slaughter through martial discipline and the mastery of cruel and vicious weapons adapted from the arena combats in which the Red Angel fought during his youth.

Designed by Mark Bedford and Will Hayes, the World Eaters Legion Rampager Squad contains five complete multi-part resin models, including weapons, which are packed with Legion-specific detail. Each member of the squad is presented helmetless in order to show the surgical implants the Rampagers received, and the kit also contains a meteor hammer, two Excoriator chainaxes, a barb-hook lash and a pair of Falax blades; all weapons unique to the World Eaters Legion that can also be used to build XIIth Legion characters.

There are also Legion Phobos Chainaxe sets:

From Forge World:

Less common a sight than the ubiquitous chainsword, the chainaxe was used almost wholesale by the World Eaters Legion, its savage nature and brutal appearance a match for their merciless style of warfare.

Designed by Will Hayes, the Phobos Pattern Chainaxe set contains five Phobos-pattern chainaxes and five bolt pistols. It is fully compatible with our MkII, MkIV, MkV and Legion MkII assault squad models, and is perfect for portraying the ferocious warriors of Angron’s Legion.

There are also Death Guard, Emperors Children, Sons of Horus and Word Eater shoulder pads for your legion.  And a new set of Death Guard Cataphractii terminator shoulder pads.

See it all on the Forge World website.

FTW Games/Spikey Bits joins The Big Game III

Rob Baer is a force in gaming.  He started the whole "bits" craze, sold it to The War Store, went to work for them, then left and started his own game store in Virginia, FTW Games in Midlothian, VA.  He loves the hobby and now is going to host a game in The Big Game III.

Forge World FAQs Released

New Forge World FAQs up!

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/downloads/product/pdf/b/Betrayal_FAQ_Errata.pdf

Go knock yourselves out.  Importantly, Forge World kinda addresses whether you can use Horus Heresy Space Marine Legions in 40K.  And while they basically don't give you really good guidance.

Q: Are the armies and units in the Horus Heresy books by Forge World meant to be used in
games against regular Codex armies, such as say Grey Knights or Orks?

A: While Forge World’s on-going range of Horus Heresy books and their game content are all designed to use and be compatible with the Warhammer 40,000 rules, they have been fine-tuned and  focused on playing battles in the milieu of the Horus Heresy rather than in conjunction with the Codexes representing warfare in the 41st Millennium, and this will remain the case.

Designer’s Note: This means that while you are, of course, free to have fun and play games against your friends using any forces you like, and Horus Heresy forces will be broadly ‘a fair fight’ with Codex forces of the same scale, certain rules anomalies and inconsistencies may be thrown up that you have to deal with, although these should not seriously affect the game in most cases. (For example, certain units, such as those with the Stubborn special rule are at a premium costing in Horus Heresy armies over their regular Codex counterparts, owing to the results of play testing within their own sphere.)

Now, on the Apocalypse front, I can easily see allowing Horus Heresy Space Marine Legions in Apoc games.
