Nykona!

When Spearhead came out a while back no one jumped up and down in tears because people could take different units.
ReplyDeleteThe same flipping applies. If someone wants to bring along Angry Gareth The Incontient or I've got an unprounoucable name Tzeentch or a blooming company of baneblades, shadowswords and a cohort of revenant titans so be it. They are countered in the same way any other unit is. It's just a change to the game to make it more fun.
Only those more obsessed with winning regardless of fun are wailing because they somehow feel 40K is theirs and must never change so they can be 'competitive'. Well kids, it isn't a competitive game. It's a fun game and so it should be. Games Workshop have never intended 40K to be competitive and thank goodness.
For the willy wavers who use a game of toy soldiers as an ego extension, stop whining. It's boring.
I don't want competitive, I want fair. I play games to test my skills and have a good time. If the game doesn't feel fair, I'm not going to have fun, no matter whether GW intends the game to be competitive or not.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest issue it that the current balance of the game and its scale got changed entirely. Naturally everyone comfortable in the setting got upset. Not sure how Escalation will work, I am worried. I read a bit on it at http://army-builder.com/ and the worries are shared by some competitive players. Mostly tournament organizers will have to watch out for this one :).
