Forgeworld Open Day, Part 3 - Imperial Avenger Flyer!

Forgeworld Open Day produced a couple great new models and previews of things to come.  And here is one of the best.

Imperial Avenger

If thunder be they name then bring on the rain! The Imperial Avenger, a brand new fighter by Forge World for their Imperial Navy range. Its design is just amazing, it reminds you of a classic aircraft from the 1920’s mixed with futuristic elements of a sci-fi fighter! Expect this to appear in the next few months or so, but I can tell you it has an amazing  weaponry!

The Avenger appears to be a ground attack aircraft, similar to an A-10.  From what it looks like, it has a Punisher cannon, a twin-linked las cannon and a twin linked missile launcher.

Thanks to Brian Hasson for the info and the first 3 photos.

  1. The bent wings remind me of a Corsair, but this would definitely be a Corsair's big bad brother from the 41st Millennium.

  2. aggresive and mean looking hope it sports some armor like the a10. 4 hard points look to be interchangable for the vulture/valkrye wing weapons... 4 las or 4 missle/rocket pods and that cannon could dish out some serious punishment...
Beware enemys of the imperium, your hordes days are numbered...

  3. It is more like our Russian aircraft of the WWII - IL-2 http://airwargame.com/upload/image/plane_pic/il2_01.jpg

  4. I like it as well, although when i saw it i immediatly thought of the german stuka bomber. I wonder if this plane also has a wailing attack inspired by the stuka's jericho trumpet.

  5. i don't like the way the wings bend, it is too dissimilar to every other 40k imperial flyer and just doesn't 'fit'. i dont think it looks right anyway to be honest.

it is a shame really because its an awesome concept. luckily, it should be pretty easy to convert the wings to a more natural position.

  6. It's a great plane, but too bad Punisher cannons are only for looks. Strength 5? Might as well be firing expletives....

  7. Looks like an F-4U Corsair and an A-10 had a drunken fling

  8. I converted a star wars arc fighter a while ago into a 40k fighter and I'm overjoyed it fits the profile of the avenger, it just looks like a sleeker STC pattern.

  9. It really depends on the price. If it has the standard Forge world cost, the new GW flyers will win the financial day.
