Blood Angels face the Horus Heresy in Fear to Tread

James Swallow will be taking on the Blood Angels in the latest Horus Heresy novel announced, "Fear To Tread".  The book will be released in September, 2012.

We assume this is the book where the Blood Angels  we get to see the epic battle between Sanguinius and Ka'Bandha, I mean, since that is the big painting on the cover!

From The Black Library:

Since the earliest days of the Great Crusade, Sanguinius – angelic primarch of the IXth Legion – was ever among the closest and most loyal of Horus’s brothers. But the Blood Angels have long kept their true nature hidden from the rest of the Imperium, and when the Warmaster hints that the key to their salvation may lie in the ruins of a conquered world, the sons of Sanguinius race to claim it. Now, as the revelation of their betrayal dawns and the traitors’ hand is revealed, the Blood Angels must face all the warp-spawned armies of Chaos, as well their own personal daemons, upon the blasted plains of Signus Prime...

  1. Well as a die hard blood angel fan i've been eagerly awaiting a HH book with the blood angels in it. However i had hoped (although totally expected it would be James Swallow) it would have a different writer. Nothing personal, but i was heartbroken by how he portrayed the chapter in his other books. Not critiquing his writing skill or style (i am by no means an expert) but i felt he'd dropped the ball fluff consistencywise. But i admit, at best i'm a BA fanboy. Hopefully since the BA have been described so positively in every other HH book tha references them, this time James Swallow wont portray them as disloyal, undisciplined, incompetant and fearful. The artwork certainly looks promising.

  2. Seconded CLBenarius, his treatment of the Son's of Sanguinius has been maddeningly poor. This is a shame as I loved The Flight of the Eisenstein and Nemesis wasn’t a bad read.

Let’s hope he ups his game for such a pivotal moment in their history and that Neil Roberts’s awesome artwork isn't the only highpoint of this book.

Come on Mr Swallow restore the faith!
